Feast iii winner Shaun Bowman Shannon is curious about people, specifically Idahoans. And more specifically, Idahoans with guns. He plans to use the $1,000 that he was awarded on 9/11/13 at the Feast iii microgrant dinner to travel around Idaho, taking portraits that capture that intimate relationship between a human and his or her weapon.
He beat out many other worthwhile projects at the dinner--perhaps it was his guests on stage during the presentation, perhaps it's the controversial subject, perhaps it's just his winning smile. Whatever the reason, the Feast crowd is excited to see his project. He'll be working tirelessly over the next couple months, and will give an updated presentation at Feast iv on 12/11/13. We are now accepting artist proposals for Feast iv, and will have tickets for sale soon. Make sure to sign up for our newsletter to get first access to tickets, and other special perks!

The Charm School announces the third in a series of public dinners that provide crowd-sourced microfunding for creative projects titled “Feast.” These events are designed to use community-driven financial support to democratically fund new and emerging art makers. Each of our first two events rallied nearly 200 community members who joined to dine on delicious local fare and vote on the 10 projects that were presented. The winners of Feast i and ii were each awarded $1,000.
How Feast works: the public is invited to attend--tickets are $20 each . During the meal, diners will be presented with 10 artist projects and asked to vote for the project they would like to see funded. At the end of the dinner, the artist whose proposal receives the most votes will be awarded the net proceeds from ticket sales.
Creative genres of all kinds are accepted. The only criteria are that the project be based in Boise and that the presenter is over 21 years of age.
Feast iii will take place on 9/11/13 from 6-8pm at The Charm School’s venue partner, Visual Arts Collective.
We are currently seeking artist proposals for consideration for this event!
